Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Quesadillas Recipe

  • Author: Matteo
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 quesadillas (serves 2-4) 1x

Description

Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Quesadillas are a delicious and easy-to-make morning treat, combining tender cinnamon-spiced apples with melted cheddar cheese inside warm, crispy tortillas. Perfect for a cozy weekend breakfast, these quesadillas offer a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors and can be served with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Quesadillas

  • 4 flour tortillas (8-inch)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)

Apple Filling

  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (use a mix of sweet and tart apples)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)

Optional Toppings

  • Maple syrup (for serving)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat.
  2. Assemble the Quesadillas: On one half of each tortilla, layer a portion of the cooked apples and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. Fold the other half of the tortilla over to create a half-moon shape.
  3. Cook the Quesadillas: In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place the folded quesadillas in the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted. You may need to cook them in batches.
  4. Serve: Remove from the skillet and let cool slightly. Slice each quesadilla into wedges. Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor and texture.
  • You can adjust brown sugar amount depending on desired sweetness.
  • Cheese choice can vary; try mild cheddar or pepper jack for a different taste.
  • Cooking in batches ensures even browning without overcrowding the skillet.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in a skillet or toaster oven for best crispness.
