Ingredients
- 2–4 Artichokes
- 1 cup Water
- 2 crushed Garlic cloves
- 2 Lemon wedges
- Salt, to taste
- Dipping sauce of your choice
Instructions
- Prepare Artichokes: Snap off the tough outer leaves of each artichoke to remove the hardened parts and make them easier to eat.
- Trim Tops: Cut off the top third of each artichoke to remove the thorny tips and expose the heart.
- Snip Leaf Tips: Use scissors to snip off the sharp tips from the remaining leaves for safer handling and improved presentation.
- Trim Stems: Trim the stems of the artichokes to create a flat base for standing upright during cooking.
- Add Liquid and Flavorings: Pour 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot. Add the crushed garlic cloves, lemon wedges, and a pinch of salt to infuse flavor into the steaming liquid.
- Place Artichokes: Position the artichokes in a single layer on the steamer basket inside the Instant Pot, placing them stem side up to ensure even cooking.
- Seal the Instant Pot: Close the lid securely and set the valve to the “sealing” position to prepare for pressure cooking.
- Set Cooking Mode: Select the “Manual” high-pressure cooking mode on the Instant Pot.
- Cook Artichokes: Set the cooking time based on size: 5 minutes for small, 10 minutes for medium, and 15 minutes for large artichokes.
- Release Pressure: Once cooking is complete, turn the valve to “venting” to quickly release the pressure.
- Serve: Carefully remove the artichokes and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Adjust cooking times depending on the size of your artichokes to ensure tenderness without overcooking.
- If you don’t have a steamer basket, you can use a trivet or any rack that fits inside the Instant Pot.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces such as melted butter, garlic aioli, or vinaigrette for varied flavors.
- Be careful when handling hot artichokes and steam to avoid burns.
- Leftover cooked artichokes can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
