  • Author: Matteo
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate-dipped apple slices, perfect as a healthy snack or dessert. Crisp apple rounds are coated in rich melted dark chocolate and topped with shredded coconut, toasted nuts, and mixed seeds, offering a delightful combination of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 2 large apples, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Chocolate Coating

  • 1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips (milk chocolate optional for sweeter flavor)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup toasted chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans)
  • 2 tbsp mixed seeds (chia, pumpkin, sunflower)

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Slice apples into 1/2-inch thick rounds and carefully remove the core from each slice. Lightly brush the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
  2. Melting Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips along with the coconut oil (if using) until smooth and glossy, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.
  3. Dipping and Topping: Dip half of each apple slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring even coating. Place the dipped apple slices onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle shredded coconut, toasted nuts, and mixed seeds over the chocolate-coated part of the apple slices.
  4. Setting: Allow the chocolate to set by leaving the apple slices at room temperature or chilling them in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
  5. Serving: Serve the chocolate-dipped apple slices immediately as a refreshing treat or store them in the refrigerator for up to one day to maintain freshness and texture.

Notes

  • Choose crisp apple varieties like Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith for the best texture and flavor contrast.
  • The lemon juice helps prevent browning but can be skipped if serving immediately.
  • Coconut oil is optional but makes the chocolate smoother and easier to dip.
  • You can customize toppings by using different nuts or seeds according to your preference.
  • Store dipped apple slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one day to keep them fresh.
