Cinnamon Sugar Cruffins Recipe

  • Author: Matteo
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 cruffins 1x

Description

Cinnamon Sugar Cruffins combine the flaky, buttery layers of classic croissant dough with the cozy, muffin-like shape, all coated in a generous layer of cinnamon sugar. This easy-to-make breakfast treat is perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a special morning indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cruffins

  • 1 8-ounce can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Muffin Tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 12-cup muffin tin thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough Rectangles: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface, dividing it into 4 rectangles. Press along the seams of each rectangle to seal them completely, creating solid sheets of dough.
  3. Butter and Cinnamon Sugar Coating: Using a brush, generously coat each rectangle with melted butter. Then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture (half sugar and all cinnamon) on top to fully cover each rectangle.
  4. Roll and Shape: Starting from the long side, roll each buttered rectangle tightly into a log. Slice each log in half to form two smaller logs. Then, take each half and roll it into a spiral shape.
  5. Place in Muffin Tin and Bake: Carefully place each spiral into a greased muffin cup. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cruffins turn a beautiful golden brown color.
  6. Finish with Butter and Cinnamon Sugar: Once baked, brush the top of each cruffin with additional melted butter, then immediately roll or sprinkle them in the remaining cinnamon sugar for that extra sweet and buttery finish.

Notes

  • For an extra flaky texture, substitute crescent dough with puff pastry sheets.
  • Try swapping cinnamon with pumpkin spice or nutmeg for delightful seasonal flavor variations.
  • Ensure muffin tins are well greased or lined to easily remove the cruffins after baking.
