Creamy Steak Pasta: A Comforting Dinner Classic Recipe

  • Author: Matteo

  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Halal

Description

Creamy steak pasta is a comforting and indulgent dish that combines tenderly seared steak with a rich, velvety cream sauce and perfectly cooked pasta. This hearty, flavorful dinner classic blends Italian and American flavors for a cozy meal that’s perfect for celebrating small victories or unwinding after a long day.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pasta

  • 12 oz pasta (fettuccine, penne, or rigatoni)

For the Steak and Sauce

  • 1 lb lamb steak or beef steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced lamb or beef steak with salt and pepper. Sear the steak slices until browned on both sides, approximately 2–3 minutes per side. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta water, and set aside.
  3. Build the Sauce: Using the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté the minced garlic and chopped onion until fragrant and translucent, about 2–3 minutes. Pour in the beef broth and allow it to simmer for another 2–3 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, cooking until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Combine Everything: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss gently to coat in the creamy sauce. Return the steak slices to the pan, warming them through. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Plate the creamy steak pasta, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and optionally sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese on top before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the type of pasta depending on preference: fettuccine offers a luxurious texture, while penne or rigatoni provide a more rustic feel.
  • For a lighter version, consider using half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but the sauce may be less rich.
  • Make sure not to overcook the steak slices to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Reserve pasta water to adjust the sauce consistency as needed, since it helps the sauce cling to the pasta better.
