Ingredients
Scale
Croissant Base
- 1 package Croissant Dough (store-bought)
Filling
- 8 slices Thinly Sliced Ham (can substitute with turkey or roast beef)
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese (can substitute with Gouda or provolone)
- 2 slices Cheddar Cheese (optional, can be removed or swapped)
Finishing
- 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the croissant dough. Cut the dough into triangles as per package instructions or size preference to create individual croissants.
- Add Filling: Lay slices of ham and cheese onto each triangle, leaving a small border around the edges to allow for proper sealing while rolling.
- Roll Croissants: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll the triangle towards the pointed end, tucking the edges in to secure the filling inside.
- Egg Wash: Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the beaten egg over the tops of each croissant. This step gives the croissants a beautiful glossy and golden finish after baking.
- Bake: Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until the croissants are puffed up and golden brown.
Notes
- You can customize the fillings by substituting ham with turkey or roast beef and Swiss cheese with Gouda or provolone for different flavors.
- The cheddar cheese is optional but adds an extra layer of flavor if desired.
- Ensure to leave a small border on the dough triangles to prevent cheese from oozing out during baking.
- Use an egg wash to achieve a shiny and appetizing exterior on the croissants.
- Serve warm for the best taste and texture; leftovers can be reheated in an oven to restore flakiness.
