Ingredients
Scale
Cream Infusion
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp dried culinary lavender
- ½ tsp dried hibiscus petals (optional, for natural purple-pink tint)
Frozen Yogurt Base
- 1½ cups plain Greek yogurt
- ⅓ cup honey (or more to taste)
- 1–2 drops purple food coloring (optional, for more vivid color)
Instructions
- Infuse the Cream with Lavender + Hibiscus: Warm 1 cup of heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat, making sure it doesn’t reach a boil. Add the dried lavender and hibiscus petals, stir gently, and let steep for 10 minutes to extract the floral oils and color.
- Strain the Lavender: Pour the infused cream through a fine mesh strainer into a mixing bowl, discarding the lavender and hibiscus flowers to keep the mixture smooth. Chill the strained cream completely in the refrigerator.
- Blend the Frozen Yogurt Base: Combine the cooled infused cream with 1½ cups Greek yogurt, ⅓ cup honey, and 1–2 drops of purple food coloring in a blender or mixing bowl. Blend or whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and evenly colored.
- Freeze the Mixture: Transfer the yogurt mixture into a freezer-safe container, smooth the top, and cover it. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until the frozen yogurt is firm.
- Serve and Enjoy: Scoop the frozen yogurt into bowls, drizzle with extra honey, and sprinkle a few dried lavender buds on top for a pretty and aromatic finish.
Notes
- Use full-fat Greek yogurt for the creamiest texture and to avoid iciness.
- Do not over-steep lavender to prevent a soapy or bitter flavor.
- Strain the infused cream well to keep the texture smooth without floral bits.
- Let the frozen yogurt sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before scooping for easier serving.
- Dairy-free substitution: use coconut yogurt and coconut cream.
- Adjust sweetness by adding extra honey before chilling if desired.
- Optional: Adding lemon zest can provide a refreshing citrus twist.
