Description
A refreshing and spicy twist on the classic margarita featuring sweet mango purée, a fiery hot honey drizzle, and the tangy zest of Tajín. Perfectly balanced with tequila, fresh lime, and Cointreau, this cocktail delivers a vibrant blend of sweet, tart, and heat in every sip.
Ingredients
Scale
Mango Purée
- 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
- 1–2 tsp hot honey
- Pinch of chili powder (optional)
Margarita
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz Cointreau
- ½ cup mango purée
- 1 cup ice
Garnish
- Tajín (for rim and garnish)
- lime wedge (for garnish)
- 1 dried árbol pepper
Instructions
- Make the Mango Purée: Blend frozen mango chunks with hot honey and a pinch of chili powder until the mixture is smooth. If the purée is too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice to reach the desired consistency.
- Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your serving glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into Tajín to coat it evenly, adding a tangy and spicy crust.
- Mix the Margarita (Frozen Version): Combine tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice into a blender. Blend until smooth and frosty.
- Or Mix the Margarita (Shaken Version): Place tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice into a cocktail shaker. Shake thoroughly and strain the mixture into the Tajín-rimmed glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish & Serve: Drizzle hot honey inside the glass for added sweetness and heat. Rinse and deseed the dried árbol pepper if you prefer milder spice, or leave the seeds in to boost the heat. Add the dried pepper and garnish with a lime wedge. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of hot honey and chili powder to your desired spice level.
- The margarita can be served frozen or shaken, depending on your preference.
- Rinsing and deseeding the árbol pepper reduces heat while maintaining flavor.
- For a thicker purée, keep frozen mango chunks or add less liquid. For a thinner consistency, add lime juice or water gradually.
- Tajín rim adds a zesty and slightly spicy flavor that complements the sweetness of the mango.
