Scale
Meats
- 7 slices prosciutto
- 5–7 slices Italian salami
Vegetables & Herbs
- 3–4 fresh basil leaves
- 1–2 cups arugula (or spinach)
- 1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes
Dairy
- 1 ball of burrata
Seasonings & Condiments
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Dried oregano, to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil, to taste
- Balsamic glaze, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the base: Line a cutting board with parchment paper. Lay the seven slices of prosciutto parallel to each other, overlapping the edges to create a continuous layer. Repeat this with the Italian salami slices directly over the prosciutto layer, ensuring they also overlap.
- Add the fresh layers: Place the fresh basil leaves evenly across the center of the prosciutto layer so they span all slices. Add the arugula (or spinach) over the basil to create a fresh green layer, then evenly distribute the sun-dried tomatoes on top.
- Spread the burrata and season: Tear the burrata ball open and spread the creamy cheese evenly over the sun-dried tomatoes. Season the layers with kosher salt, black pepper, and dried oregano to your preference. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze to enhance flavor.
- Roll the sushi: Starting at the long edge closest to you, carefully begin rolling the prosciutto and salami layers over the filling, keeping the slices connected as you roll tightly to form a long log resembling a sushi roll.
- Slice and serve: Use a sharp knife to cut the roll into 6-8 even pieces. Serve immediately with additional balsamic glaze for dipping or drizzling.
Notes
- Use parchment paper to help with rolling and prevent sticking.
- Keep the roll tight to maintain its shape when slicing.
- You can substitute arugula for spinach based on your preference.
- This dish is best served fresh and consumed immediately.
- Adjust seasoning and balsamic glaze quantity according to taste.
