Description

These Matcha White Chocolate Truffles combine the creamy sweetness of white chocolate with the subtle, earthy flavor of matcha powder. Perfect as elegant, bite-sized treats, these truffles are easy to make with simple ingredients and require minimal hands-on time through chilling and coating steps.

Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Mixture

  • 1 1/4 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

Coating

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups white chocolate chips, 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, a pinch of sea salt, and 1 tablespoon matcha powder. To avoid lumps, sift the matcha powder through a mesh sieve before adding. Stir the mixture thoroughly until smooth.
  2. Microwave and Stir: Heat the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir well using a rubber spatula. Repeat heating for another 30 seconds and stir again. If necessary, microwave in additional 15-second intervals, stirring after each, taking care to avoid overheating or separation of the chocolate.
  3. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for 2 hours to allow it to firm up, making it easier to shape into truffles.
  4. Shape the Truffles: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using about 1 tablespoon of the chilled mixture at a time, scoop and roll into smooth balls with your hands. Place the formed truffles on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for another 30 minutes to firm.
  5. Melt the White Chocolate Coating: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup white chocolate chips with 2 teaspoons coconut oil. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave for an additional 30 seconds until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  6. Coat the Truffles: Using a fork, gently dip each chilled truffle ball into the melted white chocolate, rolling it to fully coat. Lift the truffle with the fork, shake gently to remove excess coating, scrape the fork on the bowl’s edge, and place the coated truffle back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Drizzle Extra Chocolate: After coating all the truffles, use the fork to drizzle any remaining melted white chocolate over the tops for decorative effect.
  8. Set the Truffles: Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for about 15 minutes to allow the coating to set firmly. Optionally, dust the truffles lightly with extra matcha powder for a professional finish.
  9. Storage: Store finished truffles in an airtight container in a single layer. Keep refrigerated for up to 5 days, or store at a cool room temperature if the environment is not warm.

Notes

  • Sifting the matcha powder reduces lumps and ensures a smooth texture.
  • When microwaving chocolate, use short intervals to prevent overheating and separation.
  • Rolling the truffles quickly helps prevent them from melting in your hands.
  • Use coconut oil to create a smooth, glossy coating that sets well.
  • Truffles are best enjoyed within 5 days for optimal freshness.
