  • Author: Matteo
  • Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Yield: 20-25 truffles 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Easter Egg Cookie Dough Truffles are a festive, no-bake treat made with safe, eggless cookie dough shaped into Easter eggs and dipped in colorful candy melts. Rich, creamy, and customizable with mix-ins like chocolate chips or sprinkles, these truffles are perfect for holiday gatherings, family activities, or gift-giving during Easter.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk (or dairy-free milk)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Candy Coating & Decoration

  • 1 cup candy melts (pastel or desired colors)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cookie dough: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and salt and continue mixing until combined.
  2. Add dry ingredients: Gradually mix in the heat-treated flour and milk. Stir until well combined and the dough comes together. Fold in mini chocolate chips or other mix-ins if desired.
  3. Shape the dough: Roll the dough into small egg shapes about 1 inch long. If the dough is too sticky, chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before rolling.
  4. Chill the truffles: Place shaped dough eggs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until firm.
  5. Prepare the candy coating: Melt the candy melts according to package instructions using a microwave in 20-second intervals or a double boiler until smooth.
  6. Dip the truffles: Dip each chilled truffle into the melted candy coating, fully covering it. Use a fork to lift it out, letting excess coating drip off.
  7. Decorate: Place dipped truffles back on parchment paper. Sprinkle with colorful sprinkles if desired before the coating hardens.
  8. Let them set: Allow the truffles to sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until the candy coating is fully set.
  9. Serve and enjoy: Once hardened, serve your delicious Easter egg cookie dough truffles or package them as gifts.

Notes

  • Heat-treat flour by microwaving for 1-2 minutes or baking at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to make it safe to eat raw.
  • You can customize the dough with other mix-ins like crushed candy, coconut flakes, or colored sprinkles.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week or refrigerated for up to 2 weeks. They freeze well for longer storage.
  • Use dairy-free candy melts to make the recipe suitable for dairy-free diets.
  • Great recipe for involving kids in the kitchen as it requires no baking.
