Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 4 cups seedless red or green grapes (about 1.5 pounds)
- 3 cups cold water, divided
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2–4 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, to taste)
- 0.125 tsp fine sea salt (a tiny pinch)
- Ice cubes (for serving)
- Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Grapes: Wash the grapes thoroughly under cold water and remove them from the stems to ensure they are clean and ready for blending.
- Blend the Mixture: Place the washed grapes, 2 cups of cold water, lime juice, sugar starting at 2 tablespoons, and a pinch of sea salt into a high-speed blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth with no large grape skin pieces remaining.
- Strain for Smoothness: Set a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher or bowl and pour the blended mixture through it. Use the back of a spoon or rubber spatula to press down and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the leftover solids.
- Dilute and Adjust: Add the remaining 1 cup of cold water to the strained grape liquid. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness by adding more sugar and dissolve it completely; add extra lime juice if desired for more tartness.
- Chill Thoroughly: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so the flavors meld and the agua fresca becomes thoroughly chilled and refreshing.
- Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Grape Agua Fresca over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if using, adding a fresh aromatic touch to the drink.
Notes
- Choose seedless grapes for easier blending and smoother texture.
- You can adjust the sugar quantity based on personal preference or omit for a naturally sweetened drink.
- For a more intense flavor, use freshly squeezed lime juice rather than bottled.
- Make sure to chill the drink thoroughly before serving for the best refreshment.
- Optional garnishing with fresh mint leaves enhances aroma and presentation.
