Refreshing Grape Agua Fresca Recipe

  • Author: Matteo
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Refreshing and naturally sweet, this Grape Agua Fresca is an easy-to-make Mexican-inspired drink perfect for hot days. Made with blended seedless grapes, lime juice, and a hint of sugar, it offers a light, fruity flavor with a touch of citrusy brightness, enhanced by a tiny pinch of sea salt to boost the taste. Serve chilled over ice and garnish with fresh mint for a cooling, healthy beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 cups seedless red or green grapes (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 3 cups cold water, divided
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 24 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, to taste)
  • 0.125 tsp fine sea salt (a tiny pinch)
  • Ice cubes (for serving)
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Grapes: Wash the grapes thoroughly under cold water and remove them from the stems to ensure they are clean and ready for blending.
  2. Blend the Mixture: Place the washed grapes, 2 cups of cold water, lime juice, sugar starting at 2 tablespoons, and a pinch of sea salt into a high-speed blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth with no large grape skin pieces remaining.
  3. Strain for Smoothness: Set a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher or bowl and pour the blended mixture through it. Use the back of a spoon or rubber spatula to press down and extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the leftover solids.
  4. Dilute and Adjust: Add the remaining 1 cup of cold water to the strained grape liquid. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness by adding more sugar and dissolve it completely; add extra lime juice if desired for more tartness.
  5. Chill Thoroughly: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so the flavors meld and the agua fresca becomes thoroughly chilled and refreshing.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Grape Agua Fresca over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if using, adding a fresh aromatic touch to the drink.

Notes

  • Choose seedless grapes for easier blending and smoother texture.
  • You can adjust the sugar quantity based on personal preference or omit for a naturally sweetened drink.
  • For a more intense flavor, use freshly squeezed lime juice rather than bottled.
  • Make sure to chill the drink thoroughly before serving for the best refreshment.
  • Optional garnishing with fresh mint leaves enhances aroma and presentation.
